Next play's goal is to help people figure out what's next. To help with this, we ran the "2024 Startup Compensation Benchmark" -- an anonymized survey that we sent to our community of operators from around the world. The hope was that arming people with compensation data would help them be able to make better career (and financial) decisions. We also asked some more random questions of the community to see if there were any other interesting insights we could learn.

Note that our dataset is limited in a number of ways.

  • All of the data has been anonymized.

  • We made the survey quite long and detailed. Many people who started the survey did not finish it. For this time around, we decided to remove their answers from the results. We call out the number of respondents per department below. Be careful making any decisions using this data, especially when the number of respondents is low. We really don’t want to lead you in the wrong direction - we wish there was more/better data.

  • This survey geared towards people who work full-time at startups. This means it'll be less useful for students and contractors.

  • If you would like to see the original survey, you can view it here.
